NO PLACE LIKE HOME FOR COLIN AND ANGELA
Colin Lindsay has lived in many different places but it wasn’t until he moved into his new home at Long Meadow that he finally felt he’d found a place to put down roots.
The financial services expert was an army kid who spent much of his childhood moving around from place to place, and never felt truly at home.
However when he and partner Angela Stewart arrived at the development in the picturesque East Lothian village he instantly knew his lifelong search was over.
He said: “I have lived in lots of places including Germany and Northern Ireland and most recently Musselburgh but I never really settled. Ormiston is a lovely village and it just felt right for us. We couldn’t believe how much you get for your money here, the houses are huge.”
The couple had their hearts set on a Canterbury Corner housetype and were prepared to wait for the right property to be ready, opting to rent a flat in the village while it was being built.
Colin said: “We were never given the hard sell by Walker Group or pushed into buying something, our sales advisor was focused on finding the property which suited us best, not on making a quick sale.”
The ultimate forever home, the Canterbury Corner has a welcoming reception hall, bright front-facing lounge and a 24ft long open plan kitchen and family room. A utility, cloakroom and integral garage complete the ground floor.
Upstairs the master bedroom has its own ensuite and an enviable dressing room and there are three further bedrooms.
Colin said: “The Canterbury is much better than even we expected, it’s absolutely fantastic. We couldn’t be more pleased with it, it has everything we have ever wanted.
“The living room is huge, there is a great kitchen with family room which I’ve earmarked to be a man cave, and all the bedrooms are a good size.”
Located 14 miles from Edinburgh, Ormiston offers an attractive village lifestyle, just three miles from Tranent and 20 minutes’ drive from Fort Kinnaird Retail Park. Wallyford rail station is just over five miles away offering a regular 14 minute service to Edinburgh Waverley.
Colin added: “The area around Long Meadow is terrific with lovely countryside but just a short drive from work near Tranent.”
It is also ideal for Angela, who doesn’t drive, as there is a bus service that goes straight from Ormiston to Edinburgh and Wallyford rail station is just over five miles away offering a regular 14-minute service to Edinburgh Waverley.
Prices at Long Meadow currently start from £196,000. Buyers can see the high standard of homes available by visiting the stylish showhome which is open for viewing Thursday to Monday from 11am to 5pm, EH35 5AB.
