PASTURES NEW FOR SARAH AT LONG MEADOW
When Sarah Johnson first moved into her new three-bedroom Glenelg home at Long Meadow in Ormiston, she sat down on her sofa and burst into tears of joy.
At the age of 46, she had waited a long time to buy her first home and was completely overwhelmed when her dream finally came true.
She said: “I had always wanted to buy my own home but I wasn’t able to afford it so it was an incredible feeling when I finally moved in with the help of a bonus from work and the Scottish Government’s Help to Buy Scheme. I love my new house and I just felt so happy I couldn’t stop crying.
“The house is so much nicer than I had ever imagined, it is so light and bright and the finishes are just lovely.”
Sarah, who is originally from Middlesbrough and works in sales, had been living in nearby Tranent for the past 15 years and had been looking for a property close to home when she spotted online that Walker Group were building in Ormiston.
She said: “I thought I would take a drive down as I knew the area and it is such a pretty village. Once I spoke to David the sales manager I knew that I wanted one of the houses as the sizes were great not too big or too small and it was only a 30 minute drive to Edinburgh.
“David was great, a real breath of fresh air. He wasn’t one bit pushy and didn’t try to force any extras on me, he was so straight forward to deal with. I can’t praise him enough, I can be quite neurotic at times as it was the first time I had bought a property and he was so patient and always gave me realistic answers to any questions I had.
“He was such a great help, suggesting a mortgage advisor and solicitor and when I couldn’t visualize the size of the kitchen he got a tape measure out and plotted it out in the sales cabin.”
Sarah’s new home is a stylish three bedroom property featuring a large living space with French doors leading out to a private garden, a separate kitchen and a ground floor cloakroom, as well as three good-sized bedrooms, ideal for Sarah who has two grown up daughters who are regular visitors.
“One of the things about buying my own home was that it means that I have a legacy for my children, and I am investing in our future.”
