Take that First Step on the Ladder at The Braes
It’s no surprise that so many young people are opting to be part of generation rent, with research from Nationwide Building Society showing that first time buyers typically save for eight years to buy a home, with the average UK deposit £20,000.

However owning a property is not as far out of reach as some may think thanks to the Scottish Government’s Help to Buy scheme which is available on selected properties at Walker Group’s The Braes in Falkirk.

Buyers of the Albury house-type priced at £180,000 only need to find a deposit of £9000 with the Scottish Government taking a 15% equity stake in the property which is equivalent to £27,000. Buyers then only need to borrow £144,000 from a mortgage provider.

A beautifully designed three-bedroom home, the Albury features a good-sized lounge, a separate kitchen and a cloakroom on the ground floor. Upstairs there are three bedrooms with the master having an ensuite shower room and a family bathroom.

Sandy Casey, Director Walker Group, said: “Buying your own home gives you so much more independence than renting – you can decorate and furnish it as you want and with fixed rate mortgages you know how much you will be paying out every month.

“With Help to Buy, buyers can purchase their dream property without saving for a deposit for years and years, bringing the date the house is paid off that much closer.”

At Walker Group’s The Braes there is a wide selection of beautiful homes in a quiet hillside location. The development will feature 73 three, four and five bedroom family homes when complete.

A stylish four-bedroom Gladstone showhome is available to visit on site, showcasing the high standard of property available. With high quality finishes and fittings as standard, each property includes stylish and practical kitchens and bathrooms, along with high-efficiency heating systems and appliances to help ease carbon footprint concerns.

The Braes is the company’s seventh development in the area and represents a major investment for the Livingston headquartered and Scottish-owned Group. It follows the success of the company’s nearby Meadowcroft development.

The new homes feature high specification fixtures and fittings such as integrated fridge freezers and turfed front gardens as standard.

Local attractions include Callendar Park, an ideal place to spend the day exploring the woods, visiting the ornamental gardens or taking a boat trip on the loch.

The Park is home to the magnificent Callendar House dating back to the 14th Century, which played host to Mary Queen of Scots, Oliver Cromwell, Bonnie Prince Charlie and Queen Victoria.

The surrounding area offers renowned attractions such Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument and the Falkirk Wheel, as well as superb local amenities for shopping, sport and leisure. Excellent road and transport links allow easy access to all of central Scotland, whilst the thriving town of Falkirk is home to several top restaurants, bars and high street stores.

Families are well catered for locally, with a number of respected schools in the area and Falkirk College providing excellent educational facilities.
