Walker Group is offering a mortgage health check for would-be buyers of its homes across the East of Scotland.

The event, which is being held at the housebuilder’s Monarch’s Way development in West Calder on Saturday, November 23rd, is completely free and is designed to answer buyers’ questions about the cost of moving home, mortgage eligibility and schemes such as Help To Buy.

Appointments can be booked by calling Walker Group’s sales team on 01506 413101 and are open to anyone considering buying at Glen Ora in North Berwick, One Dalhousie in Bonnyrigg, Long Meadow in Ormiston and of course Monarch’s Way.

Sandy Casey, Director Walker Group said: “There’s a lot of uncertainty about Brexit at the moment but perhaps surprisingly the latest statistics show that residential mortgage approvals reached their highest level during October since 2015, up 9.8% annually according to data from UK Finance.

“It is very much business as usual from the lenders and now is a good time to buy a property with some very competitive mortgage deals on offer. Our mortgage advisor will talk buyers through mortgage options available and give them advice on financial planning whatever their life stage – whether a first-time buyer, a family moving up the property ladder or an older couple planning to downsize.”

Walker Group has a wide range of three, four and five bedroom homes available across its developments including Monarch’s Way.

Currently available at Monarch’s Way are a range of homes including the three bedroom Glenelg Semi from £173,000 and the Belmont Semi from £223,000, the four bedroom Kidston from £261,000, Landsborough from £265,000 and the Canterbury Corner from £285,000.

The Glenelg is the ideal home for young couples and new families. Featuring a large lounge, separate kitchen and downstairs cloakroom, this lovely home is ideal for buyers making the move from rented accommodation or from the family home.

With lots of space for visitors to come and stay, the upper floor boasts three well appointed bedrooms with ample fitted wardrobes and a family bathroom. Monarch’s Way features a collection of two, three, four and five bedroom family homes when complete, just four miles from Livingston.

Named after Charles X, who visited West Calder in 1832 when in exile from his native France, Monarch’s Way features some of the developer’s most sought-after house types.

Surrounded by countryside, Monarch’s Way is just a short distance from West Calder’s centre which offers a range of shops, a supermarket, cafes, bars, restaurants and professional services.

Ideally located for commuters with its own train station, there are regular services from West Calder to Edinburgh taking just 27 minutes and passengers can get to Livingston in just 3 minutes. It’s just a ten-minute drive to The Centre Livingston which is one of Scotland’s leading retail destinations with over 155 shops and a tempting selection of restaurants and cafes.

The kids will love West Calder’s Five Sisters Zoo which has over 160 species of mammals, birds and reptiles - from meerkats to arctic wolves. Recent additions include four ex-circus lions. A great family day out, visitors can also enjoy the large outdoor play and picnic area.

There are four good primary schools in the village and there are plans to replace the current West Calder High School with a brand new multi-million-pound building which will provide a state-of-the-art learning environment.

There are lots of things to see and do in the surrounding area including a visit to Almondell and Calderwood Country Park, where you can walk the dog, picnic by the riverside or explore the woodland where you can see Roe deer roaming wild.

Buyers can see the very high standard of accommodation on offer by visiting the Gladstone showhome which pays homage to the new wave of Scandinavian design.

The showhome and sales office at Monarch’s Way are open daily from 11am-5pm. For further information call 01506 870 647 or www.walkergroup.co.uk Ends
