It felt like fate had stepped in when John Cairns first paid a visit to Walker Group’s
Meadowcroft development in Falkirk.

The administrator for Balfour Beatty was looking at the houses on offer and was
amazed when the sales consultant suggested he consider a three bedroom Glenelg.
“I had been out hill walking in Glenelg just weeks before so it seemed like it was
meant to be,” he said.

The terraced property is the perfect fit for John and his teenager daughter Katey
with a good-sized kitchen and spacious lounge with double doors onto the garden.
Upstairs are three bedrooms, all with fitted wardrobes, and a family bathroom.
According to John, 13-year old Katey played a role in the styling of the home, joking
that the only thing he was allowed to pick was ‘the colour of the grass’.

The proud dad said: "I wanted her to be really involved in everything. Together we
went in and picked all the furnishings, so she feels like it's her home too when she
comes to stay."

John chose the house after hearing about Help to Buy, which was a very important
scheme to him as it increased the amount he could spend on the property.
The surrounding area offers renowned attractions such as Stirling Castle, the Wallace
Monument and the Falkirk Wheel, as well as superb amenities for shopping, sport
and leisure.

John said: "I liked the area, I know Falkirk well and I lived with a friend for a few
months who stayed in the original Walker development nearby. When I went to
Meadowcroft I liked all the furnishings, the doors and the banisters. It was a nice
house and had a good feel to it."

There are excellent educational facilities locally with a number of respected schools
in the area and Falkirk College provides further and higher education. All of Central
Scotland is easily accessible from the area with great road and transport links. The
thriving town of Falkirk is home to several top restaurants, bars and high street

In total 86 new homes are being built at Meadowcroft, featuring a choice of 11
different house types in the leafy location close to the sell-out developments at
Carronbank and Daylesford.

All of the houses offer high quality finishes and fittings including stylish and practical
kitchens and bathrooms, along with high-efficiency heating systems and appliances
to help ease carbon footprint concerns.

Prices on the remaining homes at Meadowcroft start from £162,000 for a three
bedroom Glenelg house, rising to £250,000 for the four bedroom Gladstone and
