Nevis is barking mad about his new home

Little did Laura Bolton-Wilson know that her search to find a new home would lead to her living across the road from Scotland's most famous fictional town, Shieldinch. The bank worker was on the train to work one day when she spotted an advert for The Maltings in Dumbarton, close to the set of River City. However it wasn't the starry neighbours which attracted her to the development but having space for her much loved German shepherd Nevis.

She said: "I knew I wanted somewhere with a decent garden as I've got a big dog so I needed a back door and a place where he could get out. I looked at The Maltings website and it seemed ideal."

After a visit to the sales office, Laura put down a deposit, despite the fact that not a single house had been built at that time, not even the showhome. She said: "Lorna in the sales office was great and took me through the sales brochures and showed me the floor plans and what kind of kitchens and bathrooms were on offer. "I did have to use my imagination but I found out everything I needed to know so I was happy to buy off plan."

Laura put down a deposit for a two bedroom end terraced Tantallon house type and is now happily ensconced in her new luxury home. She said: "I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I moved in but I was very pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms and the standard of finish."

The Maltings is part of the £100m Lomondgate, development which is home to the BBC's River City studios, a new Premier Inn and Malt & Myre restaurant, Scotland's first Costa Coffee Drive-Thru and will also feature a business park, petrol station and small supermarket when complete.
The location was a big attraction for Laura, as it is close to the M8 making it a short drive to her offices in the centre of Glasgow or a quick commute on the train from Balloch or Helensburgh.

She said: "Loch Lomond and Balloch Park are nearby, which is great for the dog and there's a 24 hour supermarket as well." The Maltings will feature 109 two, three, four and five bedroom properties when complete.

Prices for a Tantallon house type start from £129,000. For more information visit the show home which is open Thursday to Monday from 11am to 5pm. Call 01389 605 486 for further information.
