Funding Boost for Local Community
Twenty local community groups have benefited from a fund set up by three leading housebuilders to enhance Kirkliston.

Walker Group, Barratt and Cala established a £50,000 community fund five years ago which local groups can apply to for grant assistance for special projects.

Local groups and projects which have already benefited from the fund include 1st Kirkliston Scout Group, Kirkliston Handball Club ,The Kirkliston Village Flower Show, The Kirkliston Primary School Association, The Kirkliston & South Queensferry Football Club, The Kirkliston Children's Gala, Kirkliston After School Club, Kirkliston Volleyball Team,The Kirkliston Playgroup and The Queensferry Care in the Community.

Walker Group has transferred the final £18,000 balance to the Community Council who will now manage the fund directly.

On behalf of the developers Sandy Casey, Director, Walker Group said, “We are always keen to engage with local communities and Kirkliston benefits from a vibrant and proactive Community Council.”

David Buchanan, Chair, Kirkliston Community Council added, “The fund has GREATLY assisted in enhancing the quality of performance within all the groups which in itself has resulted in hundreds of people from Kirkliston receiving some material benefit from the Consortium.”

Following the success of two residential developments in Kirkliston, Walker Group is currently building Ellwood, a development of two, three, four and five bedroom homes, off Housefield Drive and final properties available as Cala and Barratt are no longer on site.
