The first planned village in Scotland, Ormiston is a friendly bustling village founded in 1735 by John Cockburn one of the initiators of the Agricultural Revolution. It has a population of just over 2,000.

It offers a choice of places to eat and drink, along with surrounding villages and towns such as Tranent, Pentcaitland and Haddington. There is a range of shops in Ormiston including a Co-op, a new medical centre and a well regarded primary school. Local landmarks include the Great Yew of Ormiston which is believed to be as much as 1000 years old.

Excellent road and transport links allow easy access to Edinburgh and the coastal towns of East Lothian. Wallyford Station is just over five miles away where commuters can travel to Edinburgh Waverley in just 14 minutes.
