Alison and Bill love their Bonny New Home

That’s why when they bought a new two bedroom Braeburn-style home at Orchard Row in Bonnyrigg, they left most of their old clutter behind them.
The couple threw out all of their old furniture and toys from when their two daughters were little and moved in with just a bed, a washing machine and a microwave.
Alison said: “I’ve tried fitting furniture into a new home before and it doesn’t usually work. It’s not the right size, it’s the wrong colour and it’s not worth the bother. “I didn’t even bring curtains - just our bed, the washing
machine and the microwave. I even chucked out things like toys and photographs from when our two girls, Louise and Claire, were small.”
It took three skips to clear their old home out and several visits to the local charity shop but surprisingly both Bill and Alison found the whole experience very liberating. “It was great to start again from scratch.”
One of the big attractions of Orchard Row, a development by Grange Estates - a division of Walker Group - was its location. It is just half a mile away from their original family home and is built in an area which holds sentimental value for the couple. “The house is built in a field where I used to take one of my daughters to feed donkeys every day and her old nursery is just at the bottom of the road,” said Alison.
Located in a pleasant, leafy area, Orchard Row is within easy walking distance of the town centre of Bonnyrigg which has great shops, pubs and schools and a Tesco on the doorstep.
It is also eight miles south east of Edinburgh City Centre, which means that Bill can get to his job as a technician at the University of Edinburgh in just 20 minutes.
The McCullochs opted for a two bedroom Braeburn style property at Orchard Row with a living room, dining kitchen, family bathroom, downstairs cloakroom and front and back gardens.
Alison says that it is the perfect size for them and the property also has plenty of room for grandchildren Lauren and Kian, who they look after a few days a week. “From the outside the house doesn’t look very big but it is deceptive.”
