They moved from a traditional property in Bonnyrigg to Walker's Sherwood development in the town and adore their plush new villa which has lots of space for Susan and Sandy and their three children Adam, 21, Paul, 18 and 12-year-old Ruth.

Mum Susan, 49, said: "We knew we wanted to stay in Bonnyrigg and we went round all the new developments in the area. We went back to the Walker development quite a few times as whenever we went anywhere else there was always something that wasn't quite right. "Sherwood ticked all the boxes as it wasn't too big and the views of the park were just lovely."

While the couple adored the development they couldn't decide which of the house types was best suited to their needs. Susan, a senior support assistant at the local high school, liked the Tweed but driving instructor husband Sandy preferred the Buckingham.

However one thing they were both adamant about was that their new home should have more bathrooms. Susan said: "We only had one bathroom in our old home and with two grown up sons we needed more space."

After visiting a Buckingham showhome at another Walker development, the Higginsons knew that it was the right home for them. The stunning property features a large lounge; a separate dining room - great for when the Higginsons have friends round; a kitchen with dining area, utility room and WC and fifth bedroom. Upstairs are four bedrooms.

Susan said: "Upstairs we have a good-size ensuite next to the master bedroom and there's a family bathroom with a separate shower and bath - no more queuing to get ready."

The Higginsons are delighted with their new home which is close enough to their old house for daughter Ruth to attend the same school. "To be honest I wish we had done this years ago. We weren't sure we would sell our home easily but it went in 10 days and we had Walker Group's assisted move package, so we didn't have any fees to pay. "Sometimes I have to pinch myself as I can't believe we are really here.

We have a great view from the front of the house as we look out on to a park and there are loads of children, some of the younger ones follow Ruth round like she is the Pied Piper of Hamlin," added Susan.

Bonnyrigg represents a superb choice for the whole family, being in close proximity to the capital yet also just a short drive from the sweeping golf courses and beautiful coastline that this area is renowned for.
