Morag Unwraps New Home
Moving into her brand new home at Seven Wells in East Calder proved to be the perfect birthday and Christmas present rolled into one for Morag Lyall.
The customer services manager who had lived in a flat in Edinburgh for 20 years had thought about buying a house for a long time but finally took the plunge in December last year.
And it was well worth the wait as she is thrilled with her three bedroom Albury semi-detached home in the popular development just four miles from Livingston with its fantastic shopping facilities, cinema and restaurants.
Morag said: “When I finally decided to sell my flat, I looked at established semi-detached homes but they all required modernisation work and I didn’t like the fact that most would go to a closing date and I would have to compete against other buyers.
“I then decided to look at new build properties as I liked the idea that they come with an NHBC warranty offering me peace of mind.”
Morag originally visited Walker Group’s Hazelbrooke in Kirkliston, before opting for an Albury at Seven Wells. She said: “The Albury was perfect for me with lots of storage, garden to front and back, a lounge overlooking the back garden and allocated car parking.”
She also liked being able to choose the kitchen, the tiling and flooring in the property – with the help of her sister – rather than having to live with someone else’s taste in a traditional property.
A spacious three bedroom home, the Albury features a kitchen to the front of the property with space for a dining table, a cloakroom and a large lounge with patio doors to the back garden. Upstairs are three bedrooms with the master featuring an ensuite and a family bathroom.
She said: “It was great going out shopping for new furniture and furnishings - I wanted everything to be perfect when I moved in and I love it.
“Next I will be looking into having my back garden landscaped so I can sit back and enjoy the summer months.”
One of the things Morag likes most about her new home is that is just 15 minutes from her parents and 10 minutes from her sister, and it is on the bus route to Edinburgh where she works.
Close to Livingston, East Calder is the perfect place to explore the best of both worlds. Almondell & Calderwood Country Park are on the doorstep and there are 75 cycle routes in the unspoilt countryside.
The village itself has great facilities with a range of local shops, two good primary schools, a doctor’s surgery and the Xcite Sports Centre, featuring a recently refurbished Health and Fitness Centre and Sports Hall.
And when it comes to commuting, the nearby railway station has direct links to the capital, with its world class shops, restaurant, cultural attractions and castle.
