Local pupils brush up on health and safety

27 / 03 / 2010

Local primary pupils brushed up on their health and safety awareness to scoop up prizes in an art competition organised by local house builder, Walker Group.

Schools were invited to submit ideas for a Health & Safety Poster as part of a safety-wide initiative alerting children to the potential dangers of a building site.

Evie Bond, primary three, from Woodlands Primary won first prize for her safety poster.  Head teacher, Nicola Ferguson, was presented with a £250 cheque by Sandy Casey, Director, Walker Group for a classroom make-over.

Runners-up included Conor Marshall and Lara Valdez from primary four at Carbrain Primary who submitted a joint poster and Emma Brown who represented primary five at Cumbernauld Primary.  The runners-up received £50 worth of art materials.

The winning designs will be turned into a poster and put on display around the company’s residential development, Collingwood, on the edge of Broadwood Loch.

Situated off Westfield Road, Collingwood is a development of mixed property styles including three, four and five bedroom homes, with prices starting from £165,000.
